TypeHue for Mac Is Now Available: Offline Font Manager and Color Palette Tool for macOS

TypeHue is now available for Mac as a universal DMG. Manage local fonts, build color palettes, check WCAG contrast, create gradients, and export design tokens on macOS.

TypeHue for Mac is now available. The first Mac release ships as a universal DMG, giving macOS designers and developers the same focused offline workspace for fonts, palettes, contrast checks, gradients, and design token export.

If you searched for a local font manager for Mac, an offline color palette tool for macOS, or one desktop app that handles both typography and color, this release is for you.

What TypeHue Brings to macOS

TypeHue combines two workflows that usually live in separate apps: font management and color management. On Mac, you can use it to organize local creative assets without sending your font library or palettes to a cloud service.

  • Font Manager for Mac — scan fonts, import files or folders, preview type with your own text, compare fonts side by side, organize collections, and inspect metadata.
  • Color Palette Tool for Mac — build palettes, generate tint and shade scales, save snapshots, create gradients, and keep recent colors in a local workspace.
  • WCAG Contrast Checker — check contrast ratios while you build accessible palettes for real UI work.
  • Design Variable Export — export color systems as CSS variables, Tailwind tokens, SCSS, JSON, Swift, or Android XML.
  • Offline-first storage — your fonts, palettes, collections, notes, and snapshots stay on your machine.

Why a Local Mac Design Tool Matters

Many font and palette workflows have moved into browser tabs. That can be convenient, but it is not always ideal for creative work. Fonts may have license restrictions around uploads, palettes may belong to client projects, and internet-dependent tools are slow when your connection is unreliable.

TypeHue keeps the core workflow local. You can browse fonts, test palettes, inspect color formats like HEX, RGB, HSL, and OKLCH, and export production-ready variables without signing into a cloud account.

How to Install TypeHue on Mac

Download the Mac DMG from the official TypeHue site, open the DMG, and drag TypeHue into your Applications folder. Your 7-day full-feature trial starts when you open the app. No account or credit card is required for the trial.

Important Mac Security Note

This first Mac release is not Apple-notarized or Apple code-signed yet. That means macOS may show an "unidentified developer" style warning the first time you open the app. If macOS blocks the first open, go to System Settings, Privacy & Security, then choose Open Anyway for TypeHue. You can also Control-click the app and choose Open when macOS offers that option.

This is not a feature limitation; it is a distribution limitation while TypeHue is still independent and outside the Mac App Store. Only download TypeHue from the official website.

One License Flow for Windows and Mac

TypeHue remains a $29 one-time purchase after the free 7-day trial. License keys bind to the first device they are activated on, so activate only on your primary machine.

Mac support is a major step for TypeHue: the same offline font manager and color palette workflow is now available to both Windows and macOS users.
